Born in 1943, John Chapman was first a marketing man and then the sales manager for the Liddesdale Fishing Bag Company. This traditional bag factory later became a supplier and the propriety of Barbour.
As time went by, Barbour outsourced part of his production and closed the Liddesdale Company. In 1984 John Chapman took this opportunity to open the John Chapman Ltd factory in his home town.
Chapman bags are made with high standards of quality and produce for its own brand as well as for labels that recognize the excellence of its manufacture, which is one of the best in its field.
The strong and practical Chapman products are made entirely in Great Britain. Likewise, tweeds, canvases and vegetable tanned leathers come from local suppliers.
